Bench Monday and the great escape

Right now I am in the middle of my great escape... I am upstairs and the girls are downstairs with their father, whom I have told to finish dinner while handling the girls. why? well, let's just say that it's one of those days. I found myself screaming at Mei for the littlest thing, so I decided it's best if mama is away for an hour.
And this is my way of release I suppose. typing to a blank screen, knowing very well, that I might get several phone calls asking for my well being. Rest assured everyone, I am well.. and being...

We have a promise from the weather guy on the radio that the sun will arrive this Wednesday, we're waiting. I am from Africa (even though most Egyptians seem to miss this little piece of information when identifying themselves, nevertheless) I strive on sunshine. So I await...

The idea of taking solace in a pint of chocolate ice cream did cross my mind, but "we" just finished the last two slices of chocolate cream pie, and I had that hearty pot roast dinner I just blogged about last night. It was everything one needs to beat three consecutive dreary days, with a forecast of two more. ukh! (and I have decided that this will be my new dish for dinner parties--abandoning my famous roasted chicken repertoire).
And yellow flowers help.

I should go save my husband.

Tomorrow will be better inshaAllah.

Peace.

Guess what, the sun just peeked out from behind the clouds:)

Bench Monday :: JUMP!

I've been seeing jumping Benches all over the group. This one is my first try at it, I jumped from the very first step, impressive no?  Captured on the last day of winter, abundant sunshine and a seventy degree weather. What's not to jump about?
(that's not a bench, these are stairs silly!)
 Peace.

a lame excuse and a rant

It's 10:35 pm right now, my camera cord is in my upstairs drawer desk sitting all in darkness, My desktop is staying up late with me--downstairs that is, leaving my other desk-top vacant.

Let me try again at this: what I'm trying to convey to all of you currently confused readers (so very sorry, the class didn't pay off. I am indeed more stubborn than I thought) is I am too lazy to go upstairs and grab my camera cord to download a very late Bench Monday. Instead you get late night babbles (again so very sorry!)

I watched 'Alice in wonderland' in an IMAX theater this weekend-- I came out with a sore neck and a giant disappointment. How can anyone mess up an 'Alice in wonderland movie' in this day and age, let alone Tim Burton, c'mon! 'Alice in wonderland' got turned into an epic battle between good vs evil people, really? do we really need another one of these movies, like we don't have enough... plus where is all the word play? Alice for the first time in it's history made sense. IMAGINE THAT!
I did however enjoy Johnny Depp as the hatter very much, also Helena Bohnham Carter was a quite believable queen of hearts, but really she's a great cast at any unusual role I think. OK end of rant (not my usual self I know. I think I am passionate about this because Alice was a big part of my childhood memory. I did not read it until now, I must confess, but I did however watch the Disney movie and a french animated series that they broadcast over our Egyptian TV channels when I was growing up--very sentimental, sob sob.)

I am afraid this is all I have for today, a lame excuse and a rant. Blogger is acting weird and I am sitting here trying to have the patience to deal but can't.
(I want to assure everyone that despite the strange post, I am in a fantabulous mood these days. It's officially spring in our neck of the woods, need I say more?)

Peace.

Deleted Bench and links

I was just going to log on, give you a very late, yet silly Bench Monday which entailed a puppet camel and a thrifted chest, but I indeed have bad Camera mojo these days. I some how managed to erase all of today's captures... go me!

So instead you get links:

Her niece could really use some help.

I am considering getting this for Mei in yellow (her favorite color).

They have giant sale at urban outfitters, hop over there quick!

I had no idea that new bowls are a mood changer. Feeling restless towards the end of the season... treat yourself to some bowls!

Spring cleaning on my mind. (inspired by her, also check out her links)

What an awesome pattern!

I am all about solid scarves these days (they go with everything and are simple and straight to the point) I found some reasonably priced over there.

We are currently into this show. It's really interesting once you pass the first episode.

Anything you guys care to share?

Peace.

Right now...

...my space bar is marked with red crayons and there are a couple of red lines on my screen too-- Grabby visited my room today, discovered my stash of crayons in my desk, and decided to leave me something to remember her by... Thanks Grabby!

... the recharger for my camera went missing, I am pretty sure Mei packed it somewhere inside one of her many little packing things: pouches with zippers, backpacks, coin bags, plastic bags, trunks...etc. Did I ever mention that Mei is obsessed with packing. Three years old and she's been all over the globe already--go figure.

... I spent the past two hours meal planning and writing down recipe's-- yes the old fashioned way. I can explain: I currently (still) have tiny space left on my hard drive-- from all my toe, feet, back of the head amongst other weird closeups on food, wooden floors, sand-photos.You know, all the weird stuff you get to see here--only I take about five thousand photos and choose the perfect one to share with you(believe me not an easy choice. I hear ya I'm a madwoman) so I cannot add the extra shenanigans to make my scanner/printer work on my computer. My wrist and fingers are killing me!

... finally after four years of interrupted sleep, I am sleeping for six hours straight (six!) thanks to Grabby who so easily obliged to our agenda of night weaning. Breastfeeding is one of the joys of life I think-- when you don't have to interrupt your sleep to do it, it becomes even better... if this is at all possible.

... this morning I received the sweetest mind-opening, smile-inducing- private blog comment in my in-box and I haven't had a chance to reply to it yet. Thank you *smile*

... I am a little embarrassed about all the wrong time slots I entered for yesterdays blog post. If it was confusing for you, go back and re-read the fixer upper. sorry.

... I am missing my sewing machine.

... I am inspired by him (what a handy dad one can have! you can find a lot more projects on his blog, I recently added it to my sidebar)

Leaving you with today's Sunny Bench Monday

OK so this is from two weeks ago when it was actually sunny. It's definitely not sunny today and we are currently experiencing a winter storm, hmph. Also my camera is dead. so...
Happy Monday everyone!

Peace.

Four things plus a bench

Thank you everyone for emailing and commenting, I learned so much from your feedback. So since you've been kind enough to read my "serious" stuff. Here are some photos to better assist yesterday's unusual blog.

Desk:(this was taken about a year ago, I added it from my flickr account, hence the weird dimensions. Taken by a phone camera)

Desk, originally uploaded by Muslim Hippie.

Sewing Machine: (all the photos were taken very late at night, hence the poor light, I do immensely apologize!)

The three antique photographs:: ( again so sorry about the lighting, I don't like using flash, so all you get are weird blurry photos) first::

Second::

Third:

( don't mind the weird stuff on the wall!)

Repurposed Crib Rail::

My daughters are all about dress up these days. We currently own only own set of wings which is sometimes a problem-- you see Grabby is becoming more vocal about her desires. So this borrowed fairy costume from her sister was a compromise. It was screaming to be a Bench, so here you go-- The fairy inhibited Bench::

 Happy Bench Monday everyone!
Peace.

Yeserday's post has been removed.
Thanks everyone.

Crazy Bench Monday

My daughter is currently obsessed. Mei in case you're wondering who.

We were visited by her Grand Aunt, and my goodness! I have NEVER seen her that hooked up on someone like she is with Aunt J. It can be safely called an obsession without exaggeration.

I know this will probably heartbreak a number of very special people. But you have to understand that the girl loves Aunt J more than she love me, and I kid you not! So if you're a little heartbroken, don't worry, because I am only her mother! the one who got sleep interrupted every single night for two years-- and this is to say the least.

So aunt J. thank you for visiting, know that you have a huge fan a little south from you, and she is probably dreaming about you right now( I am a night blogger, so this post is being conveniently typed while my girls are asleep. ) Again I apologize to everyone, myself included *sob sob*

A while back I joined a flickr group called Bench Monday. The idea is to take creative Photos of benches and the like and share them on the group.

This is my contribution for this week. Happy Bench Monday everyone! If you wish to view older Bench captures by me, click here.

( A very special thanks to a very special lady who made this Bench possible, the boots and the crazy "Bench" were gifted by her)

Peace.
